NCAA Finished With Flap Over UConn ESPN Visit

Last week, it was revealed that a little trip to the ESPN studios may have caused a big headache for the University of Connecticut. And now the NCAA has reached a verdict in their investigation.

The HARTFORD COURANT learns that UConn was ruled to have committed a “secondary violation” for arranging a visit to the Bristol studios for basketball recruit Maya Moore.

The 2005 tour was considered an “improper benefit” for the then-high school player. The complaint to the NCAA was filed by the Southeastern Conference on behalf of Tennessee and Georgia - who happened to be recruiting Moore at the same time.

But the trip was apparently worth the risk, as Maya wound-up signing with the Huskies. She was undoubtedly smitten by the sight of Scott Van Pelt.

See? These gals can’t even hide their hysterics! What a ladies man!

In a released statement, UConn officials say the cooperated fully with the NCAA and both parties consider the case closed. So, what does the secondary violation entail?

Officials wouldn’t say, but similar instances have resulted in a terrible cost feared by man and woman alike - a letter of reprimand!

And because of the Maya Moore mishap, ESPN will no longer allow student-athletes to tour their facilities. Sorry, kids of New Britain High - looks like the field trip’s off.
