The final tally is in from the post-game partying done by Boston fans celebrating the Celtics’ 17th NBA Championship - 23 folks arrested. One of the revelers brought in includes a former district attorney & “Most Eligible Bachelor” who was recently acquitted of multiple rape charges.
The BOSTON GLOBE reports that Gary F. Zerola was among those hauled in after Brian Scalabrine & the boys beat the Lakers Tuesday night:
Police said they apprehended Zerola at 1:45 a.m. yesterday after he was spotted urinating in public near State and Congress streets, according to court documents. When asked what he was doing, Zerola used an open hand to strike a police officer in the upper right shoulder, and then fled down Congress Street, court documents say.
Zerola, 36, was quickly tackled and arrested on charges of assaulting a police officer, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest. He was released on personal recognizance and scheduled for a pretrial conference on Aug. 7.
Taking a trip to the courthouse is nothing new for Zerola, who worked many years in the DA’s office on behalf of foster children - and was brought in facing charges of rape on three separate occasions. (He was acquitted on all three.)
Zerola was also previously named by People Magazine as one of their “50 most eligible bachelors”. Depending how his next court date does, Gary might also hope to be part of the “50 most eligible for parole.”
