Paul Walsh of the MINNEAPOLIS STAR-TRIBUNE reports that the restaurant owner who was insulted by Randy Moss over the quality of his catering for the Vikings has taken his case to the people of the Twin Cities.
Gus Tinucci, owner of Tinucci’s Restaurant in St. Paul, is offering free lunch to customers on Friday who hand over their Randy Moss gear. The items will then be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs in the city where Moss next plays - Nashville.
Pretty cool idea.
Walsh reports of what led to the charity gesture by Tinucci:
The newly departed Moss inspired the charity promotion last Friday when he screamed at Gus Tinucci in the locker room after Vikings practice because he apparently didn’t like the way the buffet looked. Tinucci said Moss used profanity to emphasize that wouldn’t feed the food to his dog.
That’s right, Moss never even sampled the food before going ballistic.
Tinucci told the ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS:
“We had the whole buffet set up, and we had a nice spread — chicken, ribs, round of beef with a carving station, the whole deal. (Moss) he comes in, and I’m helping one of the guys and didn’t look up, and all of a sudden I heard, ‘What the (expletive) is this? I wouldn’t feed this (expletive expletive) to my (expletive) dog!’ And he’s screaming it at the top of his lungs.
“He never even came through the line. He walked up towards it, looked at it, made the big stink and walked away. He didn’t eat.”
Okay, back to the important stuff. What’s on the menu on Friday?
More from Walsh:
Friday’s free lunch offer runs from noon to 2 p.m. at Tinucci’s Newport location, 396 21st St. The buffet will include ribs, chicken, beef and the other items that were served during Moss’ outburst.
Though it wasn’t listed, I presume chicken salad and lemonade will also be made available.
