Amidst all of the significant polls we’ve had in recent months — BCS Standings, early college hoops polls (does anyone want to be No. 1?), and that whole presidential election thing — we would argue that none deserves more scrutiny than PLAYBOY’s current contest to choose a “Sexiest Sportscaster”. While Erin Andrews is almost sure to win a second-straight title, we think that, just as “change” is being heralded as a force in Washington, perhaps it should be considered in sportscasting, too. We want you to think about voting for Molly Sullivan, and we’re serious.

(Sexiest sportscaster? Yes, please!)
We know what you’re saying: Who? That’s what we were thinking, too, until we tripped across her photos on her Myspace page and this compelling piece by SI’s Arash Markazi. It turns out that Sullivan is a sideline reporter for the MOUNTAIN WEST SPORTS NETWORK (It’s ok, we didn’t realize that existed, either), and she’s not half bad at it. Perhaps more importantly, she’s not demure about flaunting her assets. Sullivan is solid at what she does, but she understands that her body is a significant advantage.
That’s exactly why all the photos you see after the jump are such a compelling reason to consider voting for Sullivan: There’s a really good chance that we have a lot more of them coming in the future.
Then again, listen to Sullivan: She’s not a pushover. In fact, we’d probably take her over Charissa Thompson based on talent, too. Heck, she asked a question about a zone defense! Oh, and she’s smart. She was a swimmer at North Carolina, which isn’t exactly a directional tech school you just graduate from.
Put it together, folks. Sullivan is the complete package, and if she isn’t with ESPN within the next two years we will be all-out shocked. And you know what? She deserves a job in Bristol.
(Click on the pics for larger versions.)
Beyond that, there’s the anti-Erin Andrews sentiment. Admit it, Andrews has become so huge that her Q rating is reaching Hillary Clinton levels, and something just isn’t right about that. Add to that her odd, off-putting reaction to Rey Mauluaga’s Rose Bowl dance with her, and Andrews may not be quite the Michael Jordan of sideline reporters she’s being made out to be.
Look, we’re not trying to hate on Erin Andrews here. Far from it. She’s a solid sideline reporter who seems to have a decent sense of humor that might even border on an outright good sense of humor - at least if you believe her appearances on Bill Simmons‘ podcasts are genuine.
But that doesn’t mean we have to vote for her, particularly when we’re not at all convinced that she is the sexiest sportscaster out there. In fact, we’re convinced she’s not, because Molly Sullivan is.
The time for change has come, and Molly Sullivan is that change. Take note, ESPN. The future starts now.

Brooks, save this post because Molly is destined for big things in 2009 and beyond. Watching her grow as a sportscaster will be good times for all of us and we can say 'remember when.' After watching her work, I would say that a Stacey Dales replacement would be a good fit for Molly in the fall. You are right on target with all of this. She is tough, but in a classy way, and certainly isn't rattled by anything or anyone. 'Moxie' would be the best way to describe Molly's x-factor.
