Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin has had some pretty interesting things happen in his life. Along with winning three Super Bowls with the Cowboys, there are his repeated run-ins with the police. Who could forget his arrest back in 1996 for cocaine possession at a hotel while celebrating his 30th birthday? How about later in 1996 when Irvin and teammate Erik Williams allegedly held a gun to a woman’s head while sexually assaulting her? The time he allegedly paid teammate Everett McIver a six-figure sum to keep quiet about a supposed assault during training camp? What about the 2005 arrest for marijuana possession after Michael was pulled over speeding?
All cherished memories for Irvin, I’m sure, but I’m willing to bet that he’d like to create some new memories. The kinds of memories where he doesn’t end up going to jail or having to appear in court. Something like having a gun pulled on him while driving for instance?
From the DALLAS MORNING NEWS:
A passing motorist pointed a handgun at former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin as he drove in Far North Dallas on Monday night, according to a police report.
“The passenger pulled out a semiautomatic and I knew what time it was,” Irvin said. “But he said ‘Oh, that’s Michael Irvin, with the Dallas Cowboys.’”
Despite being scared, Irvin said he tried to keep the conversation going.
“So we started talking about the Cowboys and everything,” he said. “Then they got back on the highway.”
“I tell you what, I’m glad he was a Cowboy fan,” Irvin said.
Why am I not surprised at all that Michael Irvin’s first instinct when having a gun pulled on him in a car is not to drive away, but to start a conversation with the guy? “Oh, hey man! You don’t wanna rob the Playmaker, do ya? Of course not! Man, how bout those Cowboys, huh? Tony Romo really sucks in December doesn’t he, but that Jessica Simpson sure is fine! The Playmaker would make some plays with her! Yeah, well you have a good night! Stay outta trouble!”
Irvin did not give police a detailed description of the man because I guess he didn’t see him while talking to him. Either that or it was Pacman Jones who pulled the gun on him, and Mike just doesn’t want to get him in anymore trouble than he’s already in.

If this happened in Philly, Michael would be pushing up daisies at the moment.

Leave Michael alone. He was probly trying to talk sense into them (& not get shot or robbed-notice they didn't even rob him-I'm sure they went home that night with guilt feelings). He is deeply religious & probly thought if it was his time to go, they would have done whatever.Michael would give you the shirt off his back. He really is a good person. I have known him since he was a Rookie & have seen things the Public hasn't. Everyone just wants to talk about the Bad Stuff.
