Memphis wrapped up the South regional earlier today with a beatdown of 2-seeded Texas, 85-67.
Davidson and Kansas are now duking it out for the fourth bid to San Antonio; Davidson is trailing only by two at the half. The first half had a slow start, but then both teams started to run, making shots on both ends, and Davidson is giving the Jayhawks all they can handle.
In the early game, the Tigers made 30 of 36 free throws to become the third No. 1 seed to have their ticket punched, joining fellow regional champs North Carolina and UCLA. Chris Douglas-Roberts led all scorers with 25 points, 14 of those coming from the foul line. This is the first time since 1999 that three 1-seeds have made the Final Four.
Derrick Rose, after having a cut on his face glued shut because he was too afraid of needles to get it stitched up, added 21 of his own. I can’t wait till that trainer mouths off to the media about his needle not getting any respect.
Davidson’s Stephen Curry (that’s pronounced Steffin) is leading the charge with 15 points. Why yes, he does lead all scorers.
