As Roger Clemens has now denied publicly his use of steroids, we’ve been wondering if/when any hard evidence would come out to suggest otherwise. Like the receipts and mailings that appeared in the Mitchell Report regarding other players.
The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS has a report today that a source said Brian McNamee went easy on Clemens in the Mitchell Report, but since Clemens has filed a lawsuit against his former trainer, “stuff is pouring out of” McNamee.
That “stuff” includes what may (finally) be damning evidence against Clemens.
Excerpt: “McNamee will tell Congress more about his knowledge of Clemens’ use of performance-enhancing drugs, says Ward, including his belief that Clemens was treated for an abscess on his buttocks in 1998, around the time McNamee says he began injecting Clemens. According to a source, McNamee didn’t initially tell federal investigators about the abscess but says he is now ‘willing to talk about it with Congress.’”
If Clemens did see a doctor about the abscess, that might be the first piece of hard evidence obtained in the attempt to nail his a** (sorry) to the floorboards (we wouldn’t want to be a Toronto Blue Jay trainer right about now).
Knowing just how flimsy Clemens’ defense is, his attorney Rusty Hardin filed a lawsuit against McNamee expressly designed to prevent the former pitcher from having to appear before Congress. So Clemens may not have to answer to all of this anytime soon. One thing’s for sure though, by denying steroid use and attempting to discredit McNamee, ol’ Roge is wading out into some deep water. All because he’s apparently afflicted with the same devil that was in Ms. Jones.
