More details on the DUI arrest late last night in Atlanta of Univ. of Georgia Athletic Director Damon Evans are starting to bleed out.

The Georgia State Patrol said today that the previously unidentified passenger in Evans’ vehicle was 28-year-old Courtney Fuhrmann of Atlanta. When the married Evans was jailed, Fuhrmann, who is not Evans’ wife, was also taken into custody and booked for disorderly conduct.
The ATHENS BANNER-HERALD has more on what led to her arrest.
She repeatedly got out of the car while the trooper was administering a sobriety test to Evans. The trooper told her to get back into the car and when she did not, he took her into custody.
The Georgia State Patrol also has more details, via the Banner-Herald, of Evans’ arrest:
The trooper made a traffic stop, apparently observing the manner of driving, on a 2009 BMW,” said Gordy Wright, director of public information for the state patrol. “During the course of the traffic stop, he detected the odor of alcohol and administered a field sobriety (test). After administering field sobriety, the trooper determined (Evans) was less safe to be operating a motor vehicle and placed him under arrest for DUI.”
Today is the first day of a new five-year contract recently signed by Evans with the school. When he was recently renewed by Georgia, school President Michael Adams said at the time, “There’s not been a whiff of impropriety during that six-year period, and when you’re the president of an institution, that means a whole lot.”
Unfortunate choice of words considering what led to Evans’ DUI arrest last night.
The UGA athletic director is scheduled to address the media at 6:30p ET today.
Adams, who is on vacation, has yet to comment.
