It was quite a Tuesday night for Robert Andino. The Florida Marlins player hit the first major league home run of his career - a 10th-inning walk-off blast to beat the Mets.
Minutes later, he got a message from his wife telling him to make another home run - as his house was about to be robbed.
MLB.com reports that after experiencing the thrill of being a home run hero, Andino hurried home to his rental house in Kendall, Florida - about a 20-minute drive from Dolphin Stadium. Fortunately, his wife was okay, and nothing seemed to have happened to their place.
CBS4 Miami was told by Michael Maulini, Andino’s agent, that “someone tried to make it into the house, but nothing appeared to be missing, and that no police charges will be filed.”
Andino added that “everything is cool“, and that the possible intrusion may have been an “innocent mistake“.
We assume Robert was already on an adrenaline rush over his winning homer. Imagine if he did run into someone trying to break into his house. He would have easily disarmed the intruder - by ripping both arms out of the guy’s sockets.
