I dont think you can show compassion to someone that gunned down a very sweet and compasionate person as Ed thomas was I graduated from Aplington Parkersburg where Thomas was a teacher , coach, and a friend you cannot show compassion to someone that took his life for the fun of it. Im sorry but he has been found compatent to stand trial he deserves what he gets and that is a guilty verdict

Paranoia. Schizophrenia. Hallucinations. Psychosis. Sure sounds like insanity. You know how messed up you have to be to target someone who has been so publicly famous and beloved for 50 years as Ed Thomas? This sad and shocking tragedy sounds like a textbook case of insanity. And the outpouring of cold hearted hatred toward Becker throughout such a devout state as Iowa is not only embarrassing, but is precisely the opposite reaction of what Christian doctrine teaches. Where’s your compassion, Iowans?

I don’t favor the death penalty because mistakes will be made but if anyone deserves it it’s this guy. I live near Parkersburg and I think they should lock him up and throw away the key.
