Sharapova Prefers Charleston To Moscow In April

Maria Sharapova has been trying to soother her injured shoulder since a semifinal loss at the Pacific Life Open. As a result, she’s skipping the Sony Ericcson Open in Miami. The injury will also keep Sharapova from taking part in the Fed Cup semifnals that will be held at the end of April in Moscow.

However, Maria does feel well enough to play in some warmer climes in the meantime.

The CHARLESTON (SC) POST & COURIER reports that the tennis titaness announced she’ll be playing in the Family Circle Cup to be held on nearby Daniel Island. The $1.34 million tournament is scheduled for April 12-20.

So, she’s gonna miss out on Moscow, yet serve up in South Carolina?
