Paul Walsh of the MINNEAPOLIS STAR-TRIBUNE and TMZ.com spot Stephon Marbury on his webcam smoking weed this week.

On Wednesday, the celebrity-watching TMZ.com posted video of Marbury appearing to smoke a joint. That speculation was put to rest when TMZ followed up with another clip Thursday showing Marbury laughing and telling his viewers: “I smoke marijuana … yep … you saw me.”

From there, the 32-year-old free agent who played last season for the Boston Celtics, added, “I’m not under contract … I smoke weed occasionally. … I’m not driving … I’m following the rules.”

I laugh at those who say this might cost Marbury another shot at playing in the NBA. The truth is, he was done two years ago. He can’t play anymore, at least the style he wants to play. His career is already over, so relating this to his future life as a basketball player is irrelevant.

Endorsements? Never had any. He’s got his shoe company thing still going, but that’s off the map now since Steve & Barry went under.

With all that in mind, what Marbury’s doing know will be a huge boon for his life after basketball, since you can bet that the teevee folks are watching. Marbury will be acting out all this on national television before the year is over. As it should be, since he’s clearly more entertaining than the pap now passing for all-reality, all-the-time network television.
