Now that Manny Ramirez is back from his suspension and playing with the Dodgers it means we can all move on from his penchant for taking women’s fertility medication, and start focusing on the more important matters in Manny’s universe. I mean, it’s not like the guy hasn’t given us plenty of things to talk about in the past. Be it taking out traveling secretaries or pausing for bathroom breaks in the middle of a game.
During his time in the Major Leagues he’s always giving us something to talk about, and now it seems that he even found the time to create a controversy while toiling in the minors on a rehab assignment. It’s been a longstanding tradition that big leaguers who rehab down on the farm buy their minor league teammates dinner before going back to the show. Everybody’s does it - from the bigwigs like Roger Clemens, to the guys who barely make the Major League minimum.
Well, everybody but Manny that is.

According to the Modesto Bee, Manny stiffed both his Minor League teammates at Albuquerque and Inland Empire of their traditional post-game meal during his little warmup stint before he returned to the Dodgers from his 50-game suspension for taking a banned substance.

Perhaps someone forgot to tell Manny about the tradition. Then again, Manny spent three seasons in Cleveland’s farm system and had Minor League rehab assignments in 2000 and 2002. He would have known about that.
In Manny’s defense, he did lose $7.4 million this season because of that 50-game suspension, and only has $16.5 million to get by on this year. I mean, these are tough economic times and what not, so it’s somewhat unfair to give him grief for all this.
Those fertility drugs aren’t cheap, you know.

Manny is borderline retarded. I’m being serious, not giving him an insult. He was sheltered by his sisters and mom and when he came into the majors he was not ready to deal with anything, let alone superstardom. He is simply mentally incapable. When baseball is over for him, he will burn through what is left of his money and eventually live on the street.
