A man was arrested for allegedly stealing a jersey and sneaking on to the field at Dodger Stadium posed as a member of the team.
No that man was not named Andruw Jones. Despite what his stats and gut may tell you he actually is a major league baseball player and currently a member of the Dodgers, not a guy who stole a jersey and walked on to the field.
According to the ASSOCIATED PRESS, the poser is Ronald Higgins, a 47 year-old man who was arrested Wednesday morning “after a security guard found him walking on the field in a Dodgers uniform and holding a glove with two balls.”
Higgins, who has suited up one more time than Jeff Kent has during the last month, “allegedly identified himself as a Dodgers player, but the guard recognized him from an earlier incident and called police.”
No word on what that “earlier incident” was but I am guessing it didn’t have to do with him stealing a Nationals jersey and sneaking on the field last time they were in town. Nobody would pose as a member of a 100 loss team, players on the Nationals would much rather pretend they aren’t on the team.
Dodger Stadium security has been fooled by imposters before. They once let Lt. Frank Drebin sneak on the field posing as umpire, and we all know how that ended.
