CARR GOES ROCKNE, TELLS KID EVERYTHING WILL BE OK: Michigan coach Lloyd Carr may be on the 1000-degree hot seat, but if he goes, he’s going out in style:

BARKING CARNIVAL has the highlights of Carr’s post-game press conference after the Oregon Ducks flew all over his Wolverines. As the coach went through the motions, he evoked the story of a kid named Peter.
Peter is apparently an elementary school classmate of Carr’s granddaughter. When Carr’s daughter went to pick up hers, Peter asked, “What I want to know is how Lloyd Carr is doing.”
“I’ve got a message for Peter,” Carr declared. “I’m doing great because I’ve got great kids here.”

Carr went on about what a tough-minded, competitive guy he was and there was nothing out there he couldn’t handle professionally.
“There is nothing - there is NOTHING - that can keep me down. Not a loss to Appalachian State. Not a loss to Oregon. Not 100 losses. And not the loss of my job. I think the same thing can be said for our team here, and for the guys who play football here at Michigan.”
LC continued his speech with some advice for Peter - telling the young lad not to make excuses, don’t blame others when you lose, play as hard as you can, and keep your head held high.

(He neglected to mention to say your prayers, eat your vitamins, and donate generously to the Michigan Athletic Fund.)
Carr triumphantly ended his speech and press conference by explaining, “If you’re doing everything you can to the best of your ability, you have nothing - NOTHING - to be embarrassed about.”
So, don’t worry, little Peter - everything’s gonna be alright.
Unless Notre Dame wins on Saturday. Then you won’t have Lloyd Carr to kick around anymore.
