What happens when an irresistible sports broadcasting babe meets an immovable media icon? Hold onto somtehing, because the space-time continuum may show visible cracks on Sept. 11 when Erin Andrews is scheduled to appear on “Oprah.”
Yes, it’s true: Andrews is going to talk about the infamous hotel peephole incident - and according to her attorney, it will be the only in-depth comments she will make on the subject. To which Oprah will no doubt reply: “Girl, that’s messed up!” And now, Erin’s jumping on Oprah’s couch! Oh no. Stop it, Erin. Oh, my …
We all wondered who would get the big exclusive — my money had been on David Frost — but we should have known from the start. It’s the Big Dog, Oprah Winfrey, who will ask the piercing questions so that we can all get to the bottom of this and get on with our lives.
My idea, to conduct the entire interview through a peephole, has already been rejected by Andrews’ attorney, Marshall Grossman.
SI.COM reports the glorious news:
The segment was taped last week and will be the only in-depth interview Andrews gives on the subject. The five-minute video, which appeared to be shot through a hotel room door peephole, was posted on the Internet last month and quickly taken down.
Grossman said last month that Andrews, 31, planned to seek criminal charges and file civil lawsuits against the unknown cameraman and anyone who published the material. “While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent,” Grossman said in a statement. “She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future.”
Andrews has not appeared on camera since the ESPY Awards back on July 19, but she’s scheduled to return on Thursday to work the South Carolina-North Carolina State football game. She filmed the Oprah segment last week.
