The first weekend of the NCAA tournament is almost over, but we still have today through Wednesday to point and laugh at the Blue Devils.
For the second straight year, Duke has failed to make the Sweet Sixteen, and those who have grown tired of the Mike Krzyzewski pedigree are enjoying it, and are attacking the program from all sides.
Gary Parrish of CBSSPORTS.COM (brought to us by TRUTHABOUTDUKE) takes umbrage with the high rating that some of Duke’s incoming players receive.
[D]on’t tell me about all the McDonald’s All-Americans.
That’s a splendid thing to put in a media guide. But it is accepted fact that many players are named McDonald’s Al-Americans because they are being recruited by Duke, meaning Duke doesn’t sign McDonald’s All-Americans as much as it manufactures them.
Ouch. And then there’s this…whatever this is from Ed of ACCBASKETBLOG, who claims that Coach K has forgotten his roots.
They sit upon the throne that Case, Sloan, and Smith made for them as though they have always ruled it. K was a pup at Dean’s feet, and look how he has repaid him. I warned Coach Smith back in the day when K bit him for two National Championships in the early 90’s: “Coach, you gave him too much rope, he’s tasted the sweet champions nectur [sic]! He has no respect, Godfather!
Even the loons can make a case against Coach K today.
