Allen Wilson of the BUFFALO NEWS reports starting Buffalo Bills offensive right guard Eric Wood “sustained a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula in the fourth quarter of an 18-15 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.”

Wood was taken to a Jacksonville hospital, where he had immediate season-ending surgery. It is not known when he will be able to travel back to Buffalo.
The injury to the Bills’ most consistent offensive lineman this season was too graphic for CBS to replay on the telecast. You can view video of the injury as it happened after the jump. If you have a weak stomach, I would highly advise you not click-through.

Willis McGahee, you must not be familiar with the term “compound fracture.” That does not mean more than one bone broken. It means the jagged, broken bone has burst through the skin.
I know you are joking, but a compound fracture is really serious because the risk of infection due to the bone marrow being exposed to the open air is so high that it can lead to amputations of limbs if infection sets in the bone.
