Mone got up on the witness stand and identified himself as “Tom Brady, quarterback of the New England Patriots.” The real TB was said to be “traveling,” but Mone added that Tom “would have done anything for Charlie if he was needed.”

Brady’s non-appearance was seen as more of a relief, since lawyers claimed that his attendance at Weis’ first trial turned into a “media circus”.

Although Mone got to play Pats QB for a day, he didn’t have to shoo away any rabid fans. “No one asked me to sign helmets or asked for an autograph. Truthfully, there was no interest.”
