I agree with everyone that said basically that they did it like he was actually there. They poured the celebratory booze on his jersey like he was still with them. No matter how YOU look at it, you know his teammates were probably a little choked up because they miss the guy, so regardless of their take on it, they did it out of love. Like sapdiesel said “End of story.”

Come on guys. It has been a tradition for years to spray/pour champagne on each other after claiming a championship. If Nick was there, he would participated in such celebration and would have been covered in it like everyone else. The fact that they included him in the celebration shows a lot about the players and what Nick meant to them. Quit trying to make an issue out of nothing.

You know Brooks, when I first saw the dousing, I was thinking, “wow, that’s a cool moment.” Then I realized it was beer they were pouring on it. Then I thought that seems very odd considering he was killed because of a drunk driver. It sort of bothered me actually.

I know baseball has it’s tradition but I didn’t know what else they could do? Pour water on it? Juice? Red bull?

But as long as the family is not upset by it and the Angels were only trying to pay tribute to him, I guess it’s okay. Just thought it was a bit odd.

You know what, I’m fine with it. They honored him and what they did was a way of saying he was still part of the team. People need to stop overanalyzing every least little thing. Hell, if they win the World Series, they should do it again. I see nothing wrong with anything the Angels did and it may bond them closer heading to the playoffs.
