Jason Kidd and Shaquille O’Neal both stepped back on the court in new uniforms Wednesday night. But their debuts could have gone better.
Kidd committed 6 turnovers while only scoring 8 points during the first game of his second go-around with the Mavericks. Shaq did a little better, scoring 15 points & 9 rebounds in 29 minutes of action for the Suns. But both stars performing on their new stages had their spotlights swiped.
Kidd was cursed by Chris Paul, who scored 31 points to lead the Hornets to a 104-93 defeat of Dallas. Meanwhile, Shaquille was overshadowed by ex-ex-teammate Kobe Bryant, who rang up 41 points in the Lakers’ 130-124 triumph over Phoenix.
So, who were the real winners in these blockbuster trades? Could be the Nets, who won their first game without Kidd in a 110-102 OT thriller over the Bulls.
The Heat sans-Shaq also didn’t lose Wednesday night. Of course, it helped that they weren’t playing.
