Dolphins QB McCown Cuts Finger With Chainsaw

Getting his finger cut by a chainsaw isn’t going to stop Josh McCown from competing for the Dolphins quarterback position this season.

The PALM BEACH POST reports that the Miami QB received the injury a few weeks ago, when he & brother Luke (a backup QB for the Bucs) were chopping wood back home in the Lone Star State:

The McCown brothers had cleared trees in a lot near a lake back home in Texas and decided to cut some into firewood.

McCown was holding the wood when his brother grazed his finger with a chainsaw.

“It was kid of some miscommunication about where we were cutting,” McCown said.

You think?

The McCown boys soon made their way to the hospital, where Josh received six stitches on the index finger of his throwing hand. When he was positive that he wouldn’t be losing any digits, Josh immediately made sure he would be ready to play this season:

Moments after leaving the hospital a couple of weeks ago, McCown said he grabbed a football and played catch with his brother Luke in the hospital parking lot to make sure the finger was OK.

“Everything’s fine. It’s a non-issue,” McCown said Wednesday. “I could have played the day it happened. Now, it’s like it never happened.”

Josh says he’s all set to battle for the starting QB spot when Dolphins training camp opens on July 26. Maybe his chainsaw injury might garnish some sympathy votes from Bill Parcells.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings must be wondering why couldn’t this have happened to Josh just a few years earlier:
