Terry, Chelsea Let Champs League Title Slip Away

John Terry had a chance to claim the UEFA Champions League crown. After 90 minutes of play resulted in a 1-1 tie, Chelsea & Manchester United had to settle their score through penalty kicks.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored Man U’s regulation-time goal, missed his penalty shot, leaving the door open for Terry to clinch it in Chelsea’s final kick. But rain kept falling on Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium, and field conditions became more slick.

As Terry approached the ball, he slipped on the slick grass and hit shot hit the post. He sat for a few moments on the field, burying his head in his hands. No game-winning goal - there would have to be extra-extra penalty kicks to decide a champion.

On the fourth extra-extra shot, Man U keeper Edwin van der Sar stopped Nicolas Anelka’s kick, snagging the League title for the Red Devils.

It was quite a finish for a league final featuring two English clubs for the first time in over 50 years. And now Terry can be forever known as the English Scott Norwood.

Anyway, congrats to both British teams for making it to the final. As for us, we’re more partial to Arsenal:

I believe this is how “The Russia House” ended. Or, you know, it would have if it could have been 15% more awesome than it already was.
