JOE TORRE OFFICIALLY NAMED NEW DODGERS MANAGER: Finally, it’s now official:

The LOS ANGELES TIMES reports that Joe Torre has been named the new manager of the Dodgers. After a week of speculation and delays, Torre is set to roam the dugout at Chavez Ravine.The new 3-year contract is reported to be worth around $4 millon a season. That’s less than the $5 million the Yankees were willing to dish out to keep Torre around for one more year.

But to give up $1 million, just to be Steinbrenner-free? Sounds like a good deal to us.
