Jim Brown Suing Sony & EA Over Video Game Guy

What can Brown do for you? If you’re a video game producer, he can sue your billion-dollar butt for using his likeness without his permission.

BLOOMBERG’s Patricia Hurtado reports that Jim Brown has recently filed a lawsuit against Sony & Electronic Arts. The Hall of Fame NFL running back (and star of “I’m Gonna Git You, Sucka!“) is taking the two companies to court, complaining that they’ve based a video game character on him without legally asking.

The character, part of the “Real Old School Teams and Players” series, is a muscular, African-American running back wearing the number 32 jersey who is featured in the game’s “All Brown’s Team,” Brown said in a complaint filed yesterday in state court in New York.

Brown, who played for the Cleveland Browns, said in the complaint that he “never signed away any rights that would allow his likeness to be used.”

A muscular African-American wearing #32? Shouldn’t O.J. Simpson be suing, too? And Magic Johnson? And Shaquille O’Neal?

And if Ms. Hurtado is correct that the game features the “All Brown’s Team” and not “All Browns Team”, couldn’t Jim sue over that, as well? While were at it, why not bring Brown’s Chicken on board? They could cater for the courtroom.
