The list of Jay-Z beefs (as the kids call them) is long and illustrious. Among them are such stalwarts as Nas, R. Kelly, and Cam’Ron. But Jay seems to be getting a little soft in his old age. First, he got fired from his job. Now he’s taking shots at mediocre, non-superstar basketball players.
That’s right, you can add DeShawn Stevenson to that list up there; the one that just became a whole lot less illustrious.
Premiered at DC nightclub Love, Jay-Z’s newest joint “Blow the Whistle” is an amateurish, Swizz Beats knockoff track that literally disses Washington Wizards guard DeShawn Stevenson. Yes, the same DeShawn Stevenson who brought one-hit wonder Souja Boy to game 3 in Washington. And the very same DeShawn Stevenson who has never averaged more than 11 points a game for a season.
James has said all along that there is no rivalry between the two, but clearly he must have felt a little threatened by DeShawn’s 19 point explosion in the Wizards’ first win of the post-season to call in a favor from his biggest friend.
As for Jay, he always compares himself to Michael Jordan. I just never thought it’d be the Wizards version.
