Early Wednesday John Ourand of SportsBusiness Journal reported on Twitter, “I’m hearing that NFL Network hired Fox’s Jay Glazer and Daryl Johnston for their studio show. Both will stay on Fox, too”
After Ourand’s Tweet, Glazer confirmed to me that he has indeed joined NFL Network as an on-air contributor while keeping his current duties at Fox.
Glazer explained via text that he’d be appearing on NFL Network, “periodically during the season, though it’ll be sporadic. Fox is still my main gig and focus. I’ll be doing more with them (NFL Network) in the offseason.”
More Glazer on his role at NFL Net: “It’ll be different than what I do at Fox. I’ll be there to provide a different take on things. Some additional insight and personality. I won’t be there to break news.”
Glazer also confirmed that Johnston had signed with NFL Network and that the former Cowboys fullback will also maintain his current duties at Fox.
I like the Glazer get for NFL Net. Even though his job won’t be to break news, he always seems to be in the middle of some manner of intrigue every week.
At the very least, his gritty personality will spice up studio coverage that can sometimes bog down and become somewhat predictable.
