The New Orleans Hornets want some NBA championship jewelry. Since they haven’t won any rings yet on their own, their doing the next best thing by bringing in a guy who already owns a couple.
Besides being a vital cog in Boston’s first NBA title since 1986, Posey was also on Miami’s roster when the Heat won the 2006 championship.
Posey’s agent Mark Bartelstein says his new deal with the Hornets is worth about $25 million. James jumped at the New Orleans offer after the Celtics were only willing to give him a three-year mid-level exception worth about $5.6 million.
James now gets to trade Pierce, Garnett & Allen for (Chris) Paul, (David) West and (Peja) Stojakovic. It’s still a pretty good position for Posey to land in. It’s not like he’s going to the Clippers, or anything.
