Here’s a photo of Sammy Sosa taken last weekend at a club inside the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach:
(Miami Beach P.D. back on heightened alert?)
A firestorm of interested erupted about the Dominican Republic native last year after the skin on his face turned white. Sosa was photographed at several public events with the facial discoloration, which led to him revealing what caused the change.
In an interview last November with Univision reporter Tony Dandrades, Sosa said:
“I’m doing well, doing well, thanks to God. A little surprised by the tsunami of attention.
“I use a cream to keep my skin smooth and soft. I apply it before I go to bed. When I was playing for Chicago all those years, I was in the sun a lot for 1 o’clock games. The (camera) flashes also made my skin look lighter. I’m surprised with the controversy this has caused.”
Sosa also noted at the time that his condition was not permanent and that he did not suffer from vitiligo, a disease which causes lightening of the skin.
A South Florida source tells me that Sosa was in Miami recently to discuss a television project with a Spanish Language outlet. If that “project” turns out to be a reality show, wouldn’t be surprised to see an episode all about of Sosa’s legendary epidermis abuse.
