After the chalk dominated the NCAA Tournament games on Thursday, Friday was bound to be full of little guys scrapping out unlikely upsets. Whether or not your daily wagers reflected that is another story all together, one that frankly we would like to forget about.

Tampa was the hot spot for the underdogs on Friday with four teams seeded 12th or lower winning on the same court and providing enough drama that Villanova coach Jay Wright already felt the need to give it it’s own nickname - Tampa Turmoil. How about we stick to the coaching, Jay.

Western Kentucky blew a 16 point second half lead and needed a buzzer-beating three by Ty Rogers to snatch a 101-99 victory from the Missouri Valley champ, Drake.

The next favorite on the chopping block was the Huskies of Connecticut. Jim Calhoun was dealt his first opening round tournament loss as the head coach of UConn by the San Diego Toreros in a 70-69 overtime loss. The Toreros (we have no idea what a Torero is either) won on a last second jumper by De’Jon Jackson, proving once and for all that having an apostrophe randomly placed in your first name will always make you better at basketball.

#13 Siena threw their hat into the ring with a blowout of Vanderbilt 83-62 and the night was capped off by 12th seeded Villanova’s comeback win over Clemson.

All in all it was a pretty good value for basketball fans who bought an all-day ticket.
