Former Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon has developed a website to update NFL general managers on his recovery from ACL surgery.
DENNISDIXON10.COM is pretty bare-bones as far as websites go, and I don’t see much of a blogroll either. But Dixon is aiming for an audience of exactly 32 people - the front office heads of every NFL team.
Michael David Smith, writing for the THE FIFTH DOWN, explains that the NFL prospect has been pushing the site as hard as his newly-repaired knee:
Dixon has been relentless about promoting dennisdixon10.com. He appeared on “ESPN First Take” this morning to plug the site, and a profile of Dixon in this week’s Sports Illustrated quotes him pleading with general managers at the N.F.L. scouting combine, “Look at my site. Just look at it.”
The site features an impressive array of video, including Dixon working out at the Oregon football facilities (which are, thanks to the donations of Nike founder and Oregon alumnus Phil Knight, as lavish as anything Dixon will encounter in the N.F.L.) and narrating his own game tape, explaining concepts like how he recognized that the defense was in Cover 2 on a certain play and why that meant, “I had to have a good ball fake in order to hold the middle linebacker.” Most importantly, it features a running diary of his rehab regimen, explaining the progress he’s made in recovery and what he has left to do.
Yes, but does his site do a cheerleader post every Friday? Didn’t think so…
