In the interest of balance, the NEW YORK POST reports that Mets pitcher David Weathers wants the team to cancel it’s two March exhibition games with the Dodgers in Mexico City. “I don’t like it,” Weathers said. “It makes me nervous. That’s the way I feel.”
Weathers explains that the potential war with Iraq could lead terrorists to focus on the two teams once they travel south of the border.
“You never know what would happen,” he said. “To me, it almost seems like we would definitely be a target.”
I have no problem with Weathers voicing his concern over the trip. But why not go to Mets management privately rather than making a stink in a New York newspaper? Talk about increasing visibility…
