ASIAN EQUINE PLAGUE TO SPOOK OLY FEMALE HOOPSTERS? The SOUTH CHINA POST has news that might spook the women’s basketball entries for the Bejing Olympics, as “a strain of equine herpes has infected 132 racehorses in Hong Kong, host of equestrian events at the 2008 Olympics.”
Apparently the horses are recovering and not in danger of dying, but Hong Kong police are investigating “a device that was found embedded in the city’s other horse track turf.
“The device, which was uncovered during a routine check, was designed to shoot poison darts into horses at the start of a race.”
Sadly, stateside WNBA point shavers just struck upon a novel idea.
