USOC TAKES THE HERSHEY HIGHWAY TO A NEW SPONSOR: SPORTS BUSINESS DAILY munches on the news that Hershey will sign a one-year deal to sponsor the US Olympic Team.
The deal between the confectionary conglomerate and the US Olympic Committee is said to be worth about seven figures. Once the agreement is finalized, expect to see the famous five-ring logo on such snacks as Hershey Kissses, Kit-Kat, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Almond Joy, among others.
However, if both sides could have waited two years, the York Peppermint Pattie would have been perfect to pitch for the Winter Games instead.
Too bad Mars missed out on this chance to showcase their candies. We could have had fencing sponsored by 3 Musketeers, synchronized swimming sponsored by Twix, and ballroom dancing sponsored by Snickers.
