Finally, sirs and madams, the NBA playoffs are upon us. HUZZAH! It is with much anticipation, anxiety, and satisfaction that the first round of this most excellent tournament approaches.
As your friendly minstrel, it is both my duty and my pleasure to present to you the first 4 of the vaunted “40 games in 40 nights.” Follow the sounds of my sweet lute as we examine today’s games.
TO THE JUMP!
Washington Wizards at Cleveland Cavaliers (12:30 pm EST - ESPN): These two foes have dueled in each of the last two year’s playoffs, with the Cavaliers of Cleveland prevailing in each majestic match-up. Look for bearded wonders DeShawn Stevenson and LeBron James to attack each other with the force of the hydra. AOL FANHOUSE has the liveblog.

Phoenix Suns at San Antonio Spurs (3:00 pm EST - ABC): A giant vs. a warlock. A magician vs. a knight. A Frenchman vs. an Argentinean. Historically great battles, yes; but this year’s face-off has added intrigue. After 2007’s defeat at the hands of Dastardly Robert Horry, the Suns seek revenge on their mortal enemies. But only one can survive…

Dallas Mavericks at New Orleans Hornets (7:00 pm EST - ESPN): Ahhh, yes, Large Insects battle Horse Riders in the SbB chosen game of intrigue. Are the Hornets worthy? Will the Mavericks regain their honor? Come back tonight as I lay electronic calligraphy to internet scrolls in tonight’s live blog.

Utah Jazz at Houton Rockets (9:30 pm EST - ABC): Sir Tracy McGrady’s heroic effort lead the Rockets to 22 straight wins, but will that suffice against the guillotineous efficiency of the Utah Jazz? Last year’s playoff explosion was the trumpet call for Utah’s Deron Williams; this year, he and his merry band of rogues saddle up to prove their right to the crown.
