Bill Simmons not only brings a regular guys perspective on sports, he adds the everyday stuff like the rest of us. we talk with our buddies then decide who sucks and who's good. we live and die by our teams. most of all when our team wins the champuonship or fail miserably we go to our dad, the one who indictrinated us to sports in the first place. Bill Simmons is you and me for all to see, read and , hear. yeah I'm drunk.

The difference is that mediocrities like Patrick, Myers, and Kilborn were only watched because they happened to be on ESPN, whereas Simmons brings people to espn.com. Simmons could go off on his own and people would follow him. Just like Flazm, he's the only reason I visit espn.com anymore, to get his podcast and check out some columns. Right now, I'm guessing they both benefit from his placement at espn.com (wonder how their deal for the crappy Rick Reilly is working out, can't imagine anybody clicks on his crap if they have a choice and it isn't tacked onto the end of a magazine) but I'm sure Simmons could always go off on his own and do very well.
