Don’t you hate it when your golf clothes get messy? Well, Henrik Stenson did something about it - by stripping down to his undies on the course.

During the WGC-CA Championship in Doral, Florida, on Thursday, the swinging Swede was playing on the third hole when he hit into a muddy patch near a water hazard. Rather than risk playing the rest of the round in ruined clothing, Henrik took it all off before teeing off, save his underwear and a golf glove.

REUTERS offers up Stenson’s explanation of his impromptu strip show:

“I felt that I would definitely save a shot by actually playing the ball. If you are saving a shot, that has to be worth taking your shirt and trousers off,” he said.

But the 32-year-old said he was expecting some ribbing.

“I’m sure I’ll hear a few comments and once the pictures get out I’ll hear a few more no doubt.”
