Did prized pro prospect Glenn Dorsey have knee surgery? A writer for Jaguars.com says yes, while an NFL Network scribe says no.
Mike Florio of PRO FOOTBALL TALK points out the perplexing opinions of Vic Ketchman and Adam Schefter on the leg strength of the purported top-5 pick of the NFL Draft.
In analyzing possible defensive picks for the Jags, Ketchman lists his concerns about the LSU lineman:
He plays hard, plays smart and plays hurt. The risk with Dorsey is a mysterious knee injury. Dorsey hasn’t run for the scouts and there’s suspicion that he’s undergone knee surgery. Questions about his knee and speed must be answered prior to the draft.
But Schefter counters that two sources and Dorsey himself have said that he hasn’t gone under the knife for his knee:
Others have witnessed Dorsey running and training for his March 26 Pro Day at LSU, no signs of a knee injury. Questions might persist until he runs that day, but Dorsey intends to show NFL coaches and scouts that his knee is fine.
Throwing his two cents in, Florio figures that Ketchman’s critiques of Glenn’s gams might be part of a larger plan to try to deliver Dorsey to Jacksonville:
…It sure is tempting for us to think that Ketchman’s arguably defamatory comment was part of a plan to grease a first-round free fall for Dorsey, so that the Jags can then pounce on Dorsey at the bottom of the round.
Making up knee surgeries just to get a player? Such as it is in the NFL these days, as teams go year-round trying to get a leg up on each other.
Sorry, that pun wasn’t knee-ded.
Oops, I did it again.
