It’s been quite enjoyable to tune into Cincinnati Reds games this year - not for the play on the field, but the action in the press box. When it’s not Jeff Brantley calling out players for not being clutch - only to have said player immediately hit a game-winning home run - it’s Marty Brennaman calling out Cubs fans for being obnoxious.
Well, as AWFUL ANNOUNCING tells us, the fun continued over the weekend, as another Reds contest was witness to another memorable moment in broadcast history. But this time, it wasn’t Marty or Jeff supplying the hilarity (with video after the jump).
Cincy was facing San Francisco on Sunday, when Giants color guy Mike Krukow had an unsanitary slip of the tongue when discussing Aaron Rowand getting hit by a pitch earlier in the game:
“Likely that Aaron Rowand’s ribs started to stiffen up a bit, took a nasty sh*t … uh, shot.“
Without flinching, play-by-player Duane Kuiper immediately agreed, saying, “Well, he did. He got hit right in the spot that he fell on that ball.” Krukow tried to continue with further analysis, but he just started laughing.
Maybe if Rowand saved his trip to White Castle until after the game, he wouldn’t be taking such nasty sh…ots. A word of advice to Aaron - next time the Giants visit the Dodgers, steer clear of Tommy’s.
