You laughed at its jabs at office drudgery, you chortled at its sassy comparisons of women’s basketball and porn. Ah, it was a great 14 hours. But as is the case with so many new shows, FOXSPORTS.COM’s new webcast, “Cubed,” has been taken down and replaced with a toned down and retooled version, owing to certain complaints (Sample: Brick flies through Fox studio window).
SPORTSBUSINESSDAILY is reporting that the reaction to the first episode, rolled out Thursday afternoon, was so overwhelmingly negative that the show was cut down from about 16 minutes to 13, and one segment was excised completely.
That would be the part depicted in the photo above, in which an office cubicle hipster compares gay porn to the WNBA. From SBD:
The Web site early Friday afternoon pulled the launch episode of “Cubed” and replaced it with a much more politically correct version. Female nudity that made up about 35 seconds of the 16-minute clip was at first pixilated and then later removed entirely.
Also, some of the raunchier segments were deleted completely, including a discussion among the show’s three main characters about whether they would rather watch the WNBA or gay porn.
Fox replaced the original show with three separate segments that total a little more than 13 minutes. Fox Sports said in a statement, “The entire concept of ‘Lunch w/ Benefits’ was always described as experimental, as it is quite simply, a world first. In an experiment, things happen which are not always predicted. As one moves down the experimental pathway, it is normal to make changes and adjustments, hence the changes in the Cubed version now available.”
See the new video here, which FOX has changed to three separate segments. There was also some topless nudity that was taken out, and probably some other stuff — I didn’t see the entire original version. Of course I blame Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant for all of this. Ever since they brought “The Office” to the world (the original British one) in 2001, shows with cubicles have been popping up everywhere over here.
So FOX thought, let’s do one with a sports theme. Only they tried to make it edgy, and failed, coming up instead of the bastard child of “Parks And Rec” and a Dane Cook special. The only worse idea I can think of at the moment is when they tried to spin off those Geico Caveman commercials into a TV series.
FOX should just buy the rights to “Sports Night” from ABC and do that show as a webcast. I’d watch that.

Typical. Political Correctness Orwell style. The far left has no sense of humor but pillories the right on a regular basis. I didn’t see it either, just judging from experience. But the gay porn -vs- WNBA is hilarious! You couldn’t answer that immediately. Hmmm… who’s in the gay porn? HAAAA!
