Fox Sunday Night Cartoons Filled With Sports Moments

FOX FILLS SUNDAY NIGHT SHOWS WITH SPORTS SCENES: The Fox Network was in a sporty mood Sunday night, as their three big cartoon shows had their share of athletic acknowledgement.

Homer Simpson football goalpost

SPORTS BUSINESS DAILY describes the animated homages that populated the channel’s prime time viewing. In “The Simpsons”, Homer and Mr. Burns are touring the city of Chicago - with Monty in a Cubs cap and Homer in a Chicago Bears #54 Urlacher jersey. They walk past signs for Wrigley Field, Mike Ditka’s Restaurant, and “Wherever the White Sox Play.”

King of the Hill

On “King of the Hill”, Hank takes his son Bobby to the Big 12 Football Championship, while Dale, Bill and Boomhauer all sport Texas apparel. Hank’s feelings on the event: “A big game, a trip to the Rose Bowl at stake, an intense rivalry. Bobby will get a real sense of the hatred that makes football so great.”

Family Guy football Patriots

At the start of the “Family Guy” Star Wars episode, the Griffins are watching a golf tournament, as the CBS commentator says how hot Phil Mickelson’s wife is. Later in the episode, before the rebels attack the Death Star, they are shown an instructional video called “Attacking the Death Star with Magic Johnson” - featuring the Lakers star giving a pre-recorded pep talk to the pilots.

The best part of last night’s viewing - no Tim McCarver or John Madden.
