The ratings went up the last few weeks because they made the show take a 6 week hiatus when Idol was running two hours. Thing is, the bald guy isn't on the actual Fringe show very much.  Perhaps by putting him in the audience of other programming is Fox's way of running out the actor's developmental deal. That guy was on American Idol in the crowd a number or weeks ago as well.
