FORMER NFL KICKER LOOKING TO TAKE A BOOT TO CRIME: Jose Cortez is trading his kicking tee for a badge, as the former NFL booter is becoming a state trooper.

The SALEM STATESMAN-JOURNAL reports that Cortez will soon be a member of the Oregon State Police. The ex-OSU Beaver hopes that joining the force will add some job stability to a career that saw him in the lineup for seven different NFL squads.

Cortez’s resume includes a stint in the XFL, where he lead the league in scoring and was named championship game MVP. So, he knows how to deal with violent psychopaths.

Maybe Cortez the Killer can team up with Officer Shaq to form a super-sport crime-fighting duo.
