SPORT’S PATRON SAINT OF LOST CAUSES HAS A SETBACK: The ASSOCIATED PRESS reports today that “Floyd Landis lost his expensive and explosive doping case Thursday when the arbitrators upheld the results of a test that showed the 2006 Tour de France champion used synthetic testosterone to fuel his spectacular comeback victory.

Landis, who has undergone a massive public relations campaign over the past year in an attempt to clear his name, “must forfeit his Tour de France title and is subject to a two-year ban, retroactive to January 30, 2007.

We think we speak for everyone when we express our relief that Landis can continue to drag out a lost cause still appeal to something called “the Court of Arbitration for Sport”.
