So there was one of those jet flyovers at Fenway Park before the Red Sox game Tuesday, but apparently there was a timing issue, and one of the pilots screwed up.
The YOUTUBE of the flyover shows just how far off the pilot was from his formation, and how scary the event could have been (watch the clip after the jump).
The BURLINGTON FREE PRESS tells us that the event has caused quite a stir:
Lt. Col. Lloyd Goodrow said he spent most of Thursday and all day Friday fielding media inquiries about the incident, including a call from the producers of “Inside Edition.”
He said the Guard also has received e-mails from people around the country…Goodrow said the Guard would not release the name of the pilot, who he said was a Vermonter. The pilot is not being punished but will undergo “remedial training” to make sure what happened during Tuesday’s flyover won’t happen again.
I don’t think I’d be unpatriotic in saying that the flyovers don’t really do it for me. The best way to keep that from happening again would be to just stop it with the flyovers already. Hey, look! Planes! Neat! Wake me up when they fly an aircraft carrier over the stadium. Now that would be something.
