CLEARLY, THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT IN CLEVELAND: The CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER reports that as the Indians were getting pummeled by the Pinstripers at Jacobs Field last weekend, the home team was also forthcoming when it came to accomodating the visiting, victorious fans:
“Turns out that some of those raucous New York fans got their shirts, hats and even Derek Jeter bobbleheads from the Indians shop at Jacobs Field. All weekend, the team had racks of Yankees gear for enemy fans to buy and wear as they cheered against the Indians. Sacrilege? Other teams apparently think so.
“The Browns sell only Browns stuff at the team’s stadium store (the Steelers won’t sell rivals’ gear at their shop, either). You’ll find only Cavaliers merchandise at the store at The Q. And the gift shop at Section 4 at Yankee Stadium?
“‘Strictly Yankees,’ said the woman who answered the phone there Tuesday.”
We find this revelation by the P-D very strange. Don’t they know that the Indians have made it their business to service the Yankees and their fans (in more ways than one) for some time now?
