The LOS ANGELES TIMES has the news today that a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader named Starr Spangler (yeah, I know) has won the CBS reality show “The Amazing Race.”

Spangler, posing in the unfortunate photo below with her brother Nick, won the show as a team with her sibling.

The show advertises its contestants as “real people.” FYI: Starr worked as a sex symbol at NFL games and her brother is a working actor on Broadway. Yep, sounds just as real as the folks I saw stealing samples from Manchu Wok at the Del Amo Mall food court in Torrance last Friday.

For the win, the two take home $1m, which means Jerry Jones has likely already been on the phone looking from a loan from Starr to help finish his obscenely overbuilt Cowboys Stadium.

You’ll also be happy to know that Starr found herself a hookup on the show amongst her competitors.

Since completing “Race,” Starr, who was a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, graduated from Texas Christian University and moved to New York. She lives with Nick and works with autistic children. “I would love to stay in the entertainment industry, ” she adds. And Nick is an actor in the musical “The Fantasticks.”

Starr is still seeing Dallas, of the mother-son team Toni and Dallas. The two became close during the race.

A former Cowboys cheerleader named Starr Spangler is dating a guy named Dallas who she met on a game show? Almost as happy an ending as Bill Snyder coming back to coach K-State next year, though I only misted up after hearing the latter.

One small detail though, Dallas lives in Northern California, so I’m sure that relationship will be long and fruitful. At least until Starr lands a gig hosting a MTV’s next transexual dating show.
