Knowing how it is to be the significant other of a pro star in Texas, Eva Longoria has some words of encouragement for Jessica Simpson.
PEOPLE magazine reports that the wife of Tony Parker offers some advice to the girlfriend of Tony Romo. Cowboys fans have come to blame Simpson for the QB’s recent bad performances - which such grumblings sure to ring even louder after Sunday.
But the Desperate Housewife told Ashlee’s sister that she went through the same blacklash when she started being seen with the San Antonio star:
“When I first started dating Tony, I got the same flack….If he had a bad game, it was my fault, if he got injured, it was my fault, if he had a good game, it wasn’t because of me.”
But Eva doesn’t buy excuses that Jessica has become a distraction for the Dallas quarterback: “Believe me, they are not thinking of us when they are on the field, particularly Tony Romo, who has 10 linemen coming at him. Do you think that he is really thinking about Jessica the moment that he is about to get sacked?”
Maybe thinking about getting her in the sack - with the same thought likely in the minds of those same lumbering linemen.
Longoria advises Simpson to weather the criticism, by encouraging her, “Once people get over it, they kind of get used to you.”
Easy for Eva to talk, with a hubby that has three NBA titles already. These are Cowboys fans, who’ve now seen their team lose six straight playoff games.
The best Jess can do now is stand by her man and keep her composure through these tough times.
