We reported yesterday that Barry Melrose was leaving the comfy confines of the ESPN studios for the back of the Tampa Bay Lightning’s bench.
But instead of just a simple statement wishing him the best in his future endeavors (i.e. Sean Salisbury), the Worldwide Leader decided to throw together a little tribute to their favorite - and as far as we know, only - hockey analyst (video after the jump):
It’s not often ESPN would extend such a video courtesy to a soon-to-be ex-employee. (Maybe the boys in Bristol figure Barry will be back in one-to-two years after his coaching comeback goes kaput.) Still, it does put Melrose in some elite company - just he & Charley Steiner:
