ESPN Might Want To Rethink The NASCAR Promos

Last night, as YBB points out, Mike Patrick took a very subtle dig at Bob Griese’s ‘taco’ comment about Juan Pablo Montoya.

Mike Patrick attempts Bob Griese Joke About Juan Pablo Montoya

At least I’m guessing that’s what he was trying to do.

Juan Pablo Montoya

(For those who think Patrick’s comment was coincidence)

Video after the jump.

Not funny. No reason for it. No idea what Patrick is thinking. Perhaps why he’s been banished to late night west coast games. Among other things.

So now any mention of food during Nascar coverage/promos will be tied back to Bob Griese’s taco dig? C’mon fellas.

Calling that a jab at Griese is really reaching for it there. He’s just pointing out how far ahead Johnson is. He’s said a lot of goofy things over the years, but don’t drag him into this.

Sorry but I don’t see this as a crack on Griese. He’s just pointing out how far ahead Johnson is in the points total.

That wasn’t even close to a jab at Griese. Are you serious?

Pulling that one from where the sun don’t shine. Not even a hint of a Griese reference.

Really? Really? Really? Whomever decided to make that comparison should be suspended one week.

He then asked what Britteny was doing with her life.

Boo! If by a “subtle dig” you mean no reference to the Griese/Montoya situation at all, then you are correct. I share in the sentiments of “not funny” and “no reason for it”, but I am speaking of the post itself.

I think Mike is probably trying to get fired at ESPN because of the way that they have treated him the last few years. He should have been the voice of MNF, but ESPN kicked him to the curb.

I think Mike does a great job and I miss him on important games.
